for recommending my Newsletter 🙏🏾! Check out and catch up on The Offhours:“Open tabs aren’t for now — they’re for later.”
I’ve said this in jest too many times to folks who have managed to peek at my desktop browser window. Some may find it overwhelming, some may say it’s too disorganized. The idea of having too many browser tabs open would suggest overwhelm—but not for me in this period of time.
The fun in too many tabs open is the risk of losing it all. Live on the edge much? Whether my browser or computer is about to crash - it keeps me on my toes and paying attention to the tabs I need to address.
And yes, I could save a thousand bookmarks. Yes, I can make a list. All those things I end up forgetting - unless it’s a real to do list I need to check off. Many times I’ve closed a tab and needed to reference it, and have no idea where it is in my bookmarks.
I like to think the open tabs align with my fluctuating thoughts, some I need to come back to after a momentary distraction. Some tabs are project ideas I’ve been researching, some are things I found interesting from conversations, but the common thread is being able to visually see it all. Like looking at all my fluid thoughts.
When I create sketches and pull references, I need to see it all together to figure out which direction to go next. Maybe open tabs are the equivalent to a messy work space when you are in the zone. Everyone’s process differs. Somehow this habit of mine aligns with a part of my work process.
Go ahead. Open all the tabs. Add a little excitement to your life.
🖼️ This Week
A collage I created during a block of time I had before my daughter was born. Collage forms the base of a lot of my personal work, and I’m slowly getting comfortable with sharing more of it versus my illustration work.

Listening: “SHOWER SONG” - Tierra Whack - Loved her first album with purposely shortened songs and creative visuals. Now she presents her next full album.
Reading: ”Why one designer has been fighting for inclusion for 50 years” - Cheryl D. Miller is a wisdom filled design OG. If you are a designer and haven’t seen her work or read her famous article “Where are all the black designers?” Check it out post haste.
Reading: “How design agencies are actually using AI in 2024” - Interesting article. As the space evolves, I try to keep up with where it’s going.
Watching: “Large-scale, atmospheric screenprints by Keiko Kamata” - Beautiful work and excellent process. Uprise NYC has some great artists on their site.
Stay Wonderful.
Wow I love what you're doing here. And all of it looks so NICE.
